PLACES KEY EXECUTIVES AT WAMU |

| LOS ANGELES, Calif. –
March 15, 2007 – Morgan Samuels Company,
a leading national management consulting firm
specializing in executive recruitment, today announced
five executive placements at Washington Mutual.

| The company appointed Joseph
Lewis as first vice president and senior manager
of small business credit operations. Lewis had
most recently been the vice president, senior
credit officer III and national business banking
credit risk director at Citibank. Previous to
that, Lewis was the vice president, business loan
center manager at California Federal. Lewis received
his BA in History from University of New Hampshire
in Durham, New Hampshire. |

| Also appointed was Kenyon Warren
as first vice president and senior regional manager
of Arizona. Warren had most recently been the
district manager at Bank One/Chase Bank. Previous
to that, Warren was the executive management associate
and branch manager at Bank One. Warren received
his BA in Psychology from Kenyon College in Gambier,
Ohio and his MBA from J.L.Kellogg School of Management
at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. |

| JoLynne Fanter was named as
Group first vice president and senior regional
manager of Illinois at WaMu. Fanter had most recently
been the regional sales manager at Harris Bank
& Trust Company. Previous to that, Fanter
was the vice president of retail banking at Harris
Bank & Trust Company. |

| Brent Boyer was named as first
vice president and home equity portfolio manager
at WaMu. Boyer had most recently been the vice
president of financial risk management of the
subprime capital markets group and secondary marketing
at JPMorgan Chase, Chase Home Finance. Previous
to that, Boyer was the vice president, financial
risk management, subprime capital markets at JPMorgan
Chase. Boyer received his MBA in Corporate Finance,
Corporate Accounting, and Accounting and Information
Systems from Simon School, University of Rochester
in Rochester, New York, and his BA in Economics
and Philosophy from University of Rochester in
Rochester, New York. |

| Sue Lehrberger was named as
group vice president and senior regional manager
of Dallas and Forth Worth, Texas at WaMu. Lehrberger
had most recently been the senior vice president,
District Retail Executive at Compass Bank. Previous
to that, Lehrberger was the senior vice president,
consumer bank regional executive at Bank of America.
